White Lake Township Fire Department
Founded in 1948, the White Lake Township Fire Department began as an all volunteer department, slowly evolving into a combination Career/Paid On-Call department.
The White Lake Township Fire Department has 17-Full Time/Career Firefighters including the Fire Chief, 26-Paid On-Call Firefighters and 1-Clerical person.
The 37 square miles of White Lake Township are covered 24-hours a day, 7-days a week by our Career personnel split between 3-shifts. Each day the maximum number of personnel is 6 and the minimum is 1. The Paid On-Call firefighters support the career staff and respond to emergencies from their homes at any time of the day or night.
Services
We currently provide a basic life support service to the community. An upgrade to Advanced Life Support is planned in the near future. Our department has 27-Licensed EMTs and
10-Licensed Paramedics.
WLTFD responds to numerous emergency and non-emergency calls including, but not limited to:
- Fire Suppression (structural, vehicle, and grass/brush fires)
- Utility Problems (downed or arching power lines, natural gas leaks)
- Smoke and Odor Investigations
- Automatic Fire Alarm Activations
- Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Burning Complaints
- Medical Emergencies
- Citizen Assists
- Mutual Aid
Special Technical Teams
WLTFD is part of a Technical Rescue Team in Northern Oakland County, Michigan, as well as a member of The North Oakland County Hazardous Materials Response Team, and the North Oakland County Incident Management Team. The three teams consist of personnel from multiple fire departments within these jurisdictions. Our department members are trained in numerous variations of technical rescue, including:

- FEMA Medical Specialist
